West Brook Soccer Team Rules

  1. Participation is at the discretion of the Coaching Staff.

  2. Practice is necessary for team and individual success.  Players are expected to attend every practice unless they are absent from school due to illness/injury or they have contacted the Coaching Staff prior to that practice.  Failing to notify the Coaching Staff results in an unexcused absence from practice.  NO PRACTICE = NO GAME PLAY!

  3. Dressing out is not an option.  All players must dress out in Athletics.  Notes from home do not dismiss a player from dressing out in practice.  Only a Doctor's excuse or the Athletic Trainer will be accepted.  Failure to dress out is considered an unexcused absence from practice.

  4. Be on time for practice.

  5. Only the Coaching Staff can cancel a practice.

  6. Shinguards must be worn during all practices and games and during Athletics when the class is on the field.

  7. Report an injury of any type to the Coaching Staff immediately.  You must see the Athletic Trainer as soon as possible before leaving practice or a game.

  8. If you see a physician or the Athletic Trainer for any type of injury, you will not be permitted to practice or compete until the Head Coach is given a note signed by the doctor or Athletic Trainer stating that you are released from restrictions and physically able to participate.

  9. You are expected to work diligently toward achieving good grades in your school courses.

  10. UNIFORMS AND EQUIPMENT are issued to each individual player.  You are responsible for all equipment and uniforms issued to you.  You will be charged for the full replacement cost for any equipment or uniform that is lost, damaged, or stolen.  (Note:  If you lend someone something that was issued to you and they fail to return it, YOU are responsible for the item at the end of the season, NOT the person that you lent it to.)  Unpaid balances will result in a hold on your record.

  11. Warm-ups and other issued equipment can NOT be worn to school, except during Athletic periods.  (UIL rule)  Items worn to other classes will be taken up by the Coaching Staff.

  12. For away games, including those played at Carol A "Butch" Thomas Stadium, players are required to ride the team bus or vans to and from the games. Players are not allowed to drive to the games on their own. If you miss the team bus for any reason, you will not be allowed to participate in the game. Only the Principal can approve other transportation arrangements, and these arrangements must be approved two days prior to the scheduled travel event.

  13. Arrive for home games one (1) hour before the scheduled start time. Players must be dressed and ready for participation at least 45 minutes before game time.

  14. Pre-game warm-ups MUST be taken seriously. During warm-ups, all players must be dressed the same, in issued uniforms and equipment.Players who quit the team are responsible for notifying the Coaching Staff immediately.  You may NOT quit the team for another sport until the soccer season is over.

  15. There will be NO dressing/undressing on the field.  (UIL Rule)  You must keep your uniform on at all times.

  16. If you quit the team during or after an away (overnight) tournament, you will be required to reimburse all travel costs, including meals and hotel.

  17. There is a ZERO tolerance for the use of illegal drugs, tobacco, or alcohol.  If a student is caught under the influence of ANY controlled substance or alcohol on school property or school-related function (including away games and tournaments), the student will be disciplined according to the BISD Student Code of Conduct and will be immediately removed from the team and sent home.

  20. Treat all coaches, officials, spectators, and other players with respect and courtesy.  Maintain sportsmanship and professionalism.  Do NOT interact with officials or question their judgments.

  21. Do not interact with the spectators in the stands.  Fans and parents are not permitted on the field or any player areas, including the track.
